alfdan's 11th Annual
Swedish Lucia Fest
Juggler's
Christmas Party!

When: Saturday, December 14, 2002
Home: 367-2021
Who is invited:
Around 8:00pm, we will open the doors to the Music City Jugglers, friends-of-jugglers, video/film people, music business people, Belmont friends, international friends, the Tennessee Llama Community, and anyone else who is fun and interesting... (You still might get bored watching the traditional music video "Merry Christmas, Doll" all evening long, but at least it's in English!...)
What to bring:
You are also welcome to sample the traditional Christmas Swedish Glögg or German Glühwein - hot spiced mulled wine with vodka (see recipes) - so you are welcome to bring a bottle of sweet red wine (Taylor's Port or Burgundy works well) and/or Swedish Absolut to add to the glögg.
If you have any special Christmas carols you'd like to sing, please bring along extra lyrics (in English, Swedish, German, Spanish, or the language of your choice!), and you are welcome to bring a guitar or other instrument if you'd like. If you are a juggler, please bring your clubs and fire torches for the traditional Christmas juggling... (And if you have a video camera, you might want to bring it along to catch some of this year's special memories!) And of course, bring your International, Internet, or just plain fun and Interesting friends!!
In Sweden, December 13th is celebrated as Lucia, the "Festival of the Lights". Traditional Swedish cookies and coffee are served, Christmas carols are sung, and a young girl wearing white robes and candles in her hair plays the part of Lucia. We take advantage of the chance to get together and invite all our international friends, Music City Jugglers, film/video friends, music industry friends, and all our other interesting friends to celebrate with a good old-fashioned Christmas party!

Take Murfreesboro Road southeast (towards Starwood AmSouth Amphitheater), and go through the light at Bell Road. Continue straight 1/2 mile south on Murfreesboro Road through the first stoplight (KwikSak convenience store on your right, CVS drugstore and firestation to your left) to the next light at Hamilton-Church Road at the bottom of the hill. Turn left at the light (in front of Hamilton Methodist Church with 3 white crosses), and take Hamilton Church Road exactly 1 mile (past 2 subdivisions on the left) to the first 4-way stop at Mt. View Road (look for stone house with lots of goats to your left). Turn left heading northeast onto Mt. View Road, and after 1/2 mile, take the first left at the top of a small hill onto Belle Oaks Drive into the Belle Oaks subdivision. 3729 Belle Oaks Drive is the 8th house on the left, brown brick with tan siding. (Just look for the Swedish flags!)
Taking I-24 East from Nashville:
(Local map you can print)
Take I-24 East (southeast) towards Hickory Hollow Mall (past the Bell Road/Hickory Hollow Mall exit #59) to the "Hickory Hollow Parkway" exit #60. After you wind around over the Interstate, turn right at the first stoplight onto Mt. View Road (just past Wendy's), and go straight through next immediate light. Follow Mt. View Road about 3 1/2 miles total, crossing Murfreesboro Pike at the red light after the first 2 miles. Continue straight on Mt. View Road for another mile to the stop sign at the intersection of Hamilton-Church Road (look for stone house with lots of goats straight ahead to your left). Go through the stop sign and continue straight on Mt. View Road for another 1/2 mile, taking the first left at the top of a small hill onto Belle Oaks Drive into the Belle Oaks subdivision. 3729 Belle Oaks Drive is the 8th house on the left, brown brick with tan siding. (Just look for the Swedish flags!)
Taking I-24 West from Chattanooga:
(Local map you can print)
Take I-24 West towards Nashville to the "Hickory Hollow Parkway" exit #60. As you come down the long exit ramp, (you will see a Wendy's on your right), turn right at the first stoplight onto Mt. View Road heading east. Go straight through next immediate light after about a block. Follow Mt. View Road (about 3 1/2 miles total), crossing Murfreesboro Pike at the red light after the first 2 miles. Continue straight on Mt. View Road the 3rd mile until you get to a 4-way stop sign at the intersection of Hamilton-Church Road (look for stone house with lots of goats straight ahead and to your left). Taking I-40 West from Knoxville:
(Local map you can print)
Take I-40 West towards Nashville to the "Mt. Juliet/Hwy 171 Longhunter State Park" exit #226. When the exit ramp comes to the stoplight, turn left at the end of the exit ramp and head south on Mt. Juliet Road/Hwy 171 S (which also becomes known as Hobson Pike) towards Longhunter State Park. You will go almost exactly 10 miles total, through a couple of intersections with convenience stations, then past a few signs and entrances to Longhunter State Park, and finally, after about 8 miles, you'll go over a long bridge over Percy Priest Lake. After about 2 more miles, you may (or may not) see a brown sign for "Four Corners Marina" at an otherwise unmarked intersection. Instead of turning left to the marina, turn right and head west on Hamilton-Church Road about 1/2 mile. (If you miss it, you'll see Pinhook Road and then Antioch High School on your left - You've gone too far! Turn around and go back to the intersection of Hamilton Church, and this time turn left and head west on Hamilton Church). Go west about 1 mile on Hamilton Church Road until you come to the 4-way stop sign at Mt. View Road (look for stone house with lots of goats in front of you to your right), then turn a hard right onto Mt. View Road and head northeast 1/2 mile, taking the first left at the top of a small hill onto Belle Oaks Drive into the Belle Oaks subdivision. 3729 Belle Oaks Drive is the 8th house on the left, brown brick with tan siding.
